YOU PLAY LIVE?!



The main objective of a band is playing live, offer their music on the premises to vent their art in public!

Ma. How does one find the band to play live gigs?

1) AGENTS LIVE:
You should know that most of the rooms have well-known in the artistic management of the evening the infamous " Live Agents."

2) Competition and Festival:
Another way to be able to perform live and be part of some contest or festival.
There are many types, some require a registration fee, some offer prizes to the winners, some are for charity, etc. ...
must consider a few things:

if the competitions are to be paid :
is usually best to avoid any calling for a contest entry fee, but if you still want to participate you must evaluate:

• if the asking price is proportional to the services and that the competition offers prizes ! For example, if a corcorso asks a registration fee of 250 € per group and the first prize is a day in the recording studio (NB: almost worth about € 250) is clearly to be avoided!
• when the time of performance is appropriate to the cost : if you must pay to play, at least make sure there's a time of performance of at least 25/30 minutes (at least 5 songs)!
• whether the service is adequate: or if the instrumentation and sound engineer provided by the organization of the competition are up to the amount requested by each band! (Often not)
• if there is room for every band : avoid contests in which it is organized an evening with more than 4 / 5 band! There are competitions in which they play a mess of bands every night for obvious economic reasons and the local organizers (more public, less spikes).
• jury if there is a serious : information if there is a jury selection of jurors on curriculum and assessment criteria! Discard all those contests in which the court has the public (because it always wins Who has more friends and relatives).

If the competitions are free:
is always good to participate in free contests to get to know and to do some 'in the ranks, but not all the contests I can do for you, sometimes can be counterproductive to participate, then must be considered:

• if the competition is open to bands that are your kind : do not attend are scheduled in evenings when other bands that are opposite each other genres, or even worse, if there are together with the cover band to band with new songs! The public would be too divided, each would bring their friends who would see in disiteressati other bands. In addition there would be a fair yardstick for assessing or simply listen to all in perspective (not to mention the technical problems on the equalizer all those different kinds from the point of view of increasingly incompetent engineers ...).
• if the competition is aimed at an audience with a specific target : If you are too old, too young, too powerful or too slow to avoid a precise part, do yourself a favor and want the public that would be disinterested in seeing, also leave space for someone more suitable to the situation
• if the room and the equipment is right for you : If you are a professionals or however you are very smart, you could ruin the evening playing in a tavern with inadequate equipment and sound to you!

In general, the competitions are always a good solution for beginners to play and look for the boxes in which to experience whether you are an artist and looking for spaces to bring their music and hope to find some fans or at best some talent scout (although the latter is a distant mirage almost extinct for about 30 years).

3) propose DIRECTLY TO LOCAL
The ultimate solution is to do what it was once, or to go directly to the premises with their own CD in hand Demo, a biography of the band, some pictures and explain to the owner of the club do you propose in terms of performance in economic terms.

PRO:

for the band:

• freedom to treat the cache with the band
• freedom to pretend that the evening never existed and do all in black (sometimes significantly)
• liberty to cancel the event without penalty

AGAINST:

for the band:

• huge splash on the local search your host (often we end up settling for a loser and not days on weekends)
• sad caché
• negotiations for a contract with the local , resulting in litigation in the collection of money or less fixed
• evenings there is no 100% guaranteed
• blackmail by the room that allow to ensure a minimum number of paying audience to really be paid (often in black)

for local

• band is not always good to play
• public is not always guaranteed
• evening is not always guaranteed 100%

There are still many locals who own and manage that carefully select the band without requiring the latter to bear the public but always trying to organize their evenings so that the room itself to make a name and then to be always full.
Unfortunately we are talking about a small minority!


What I want you note is that live music is increasingly disappearing, but increase the band playing the local live music where you are more and more empty!
The reasons are many, I can only list what I think ruined this system:

• too pathetic and identical cover / tribute band
• think that too many local to the collection see the results immediately without long-term
• too many agencies that have a monopoly of the local area by selecting the most pathetic band
  
• too many people who are lazy with my ear on the premises only to hear the usual songs already heard a billion times
• too many bands that are not valid managed to convince locals to give them space in exchange for a public relations or a cache of zero!
• too little culture of live music
• too little respect for the player and is not yet known (even those on the other hand is famous before it was not ...)
• too many recommendations and leccaculo
